The Office of Speculative Practice (OoSP) is a new creative practice incubator in the heart of central Naarm/Melbourne.

It is located in the former offices of the influential architectural practice Edmond and Corrigan, on the top floor of the building designed by their practice at Level 2, 46 Little La Trobe Street. The office space is an integral part of the history of Naarm/Melbourne architecture through the influence the Edmond and Corrigan practice had through practice-based design, design research, polemical advocacy, teaching, and writing. This influence extended to many Melbourne architects, artists, writers, the theatre community, and academics.

The vision for the OoSP is to maintain this space for emerging creative enterprises through an 18 month residency program, guided by that practice’s well-known aphorism for practice: ‘more ideas less resolution’.

The space will act as an incubator for creative practitioners and the architectural culture of Naarm/Melbourne through a residency program for start-up practices, writers, and researchers or academics with an invested interest in the city’s architectural culture.

Who is the OoSP Residency for?

The Office of Speculative Practice has a broad range of eligibility, with an aspiration to nurture early career creatives including architectural graduates, start-up and emerging architectural practices, and other design researchers and writers with an interest in the architecture and the architectural culture of Naarm/Melbourne.

The OoSP creative practice incubator program will provide residents with support and mentorship opportunities throughout to assist in developing their creative practice.
